Manchester Airport will undergo an estimated $650 million (£400m) upgrade, creating over 7,000 new jobs in the city.

Part of the expansion includes the new "Airport City", which is set to start being constructed in 2012.

This project is part of the UK's plan to stimulate the economy and start job growth.

According to an airport spokesperson, it will take 10-15 years to complete the project, which will sit on a 60-acre site just north of the airport.
