Jeddah, Soon to Be Home of World's Tallest Building

On Sunday plans were unveiled for a company based in Saudi Arabia to build the tallest edifice on the planet, standing one mile high, long enough for an elevator to need 12 minutes to reach the top.

The plans were approved last month for it to be built in Jeddah the Kingdom Tower.

It’s expected to double the current tallest building, the 2,717-foot Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Total cost for construction? $30 billion.

Initial plans for the building call for it to have 12-million-cubic-feet, and will be the home to offices, a hotel and residential section.
