Filling up your tank before a road trip might start to hurt a little bit more as experts predict record has prices could be set at the pump by Memorial Day.

Gas prices are up nationally nearly a dollar a gallon when compared to the same time period a year ago. Some predict prices could top the record set back in June 2008 when the average was $4.11 a gallon and reach the dreaded $5 a gallon.

Normally gas prices jump around the fourth of July, which is the height of the summer driving season. However already escalating prices could mean less people hitting the road for a long vacation weekend.
