A company wants to bring 3D TV to flights without the funky glasses

MasterImage, a 3D tech company based in Miami, says it is close to signing a deal that would bring glasses-free 3D television technology to several airlines.

The company refused to identify any potential clients by name but said its technology could be built into new aircraft as well as retro-fitted into older planes.

MasterImage is hoping to capitalize on the growing popularity of glasses-free 3D TV. A spokesman said the company is also in talks with several car manufacturers to bring the technology to America’s roadways.

While a deal may in fact be close, don’t expect to see the televisions on your next flight. MasterImage cautioned that long aircraft design cycles could mean it will be at least two years before the technology hits the skies.
