The Republic of Ireland finance minister, Michael Noonan, announced Wednesday the air travel tax will be terminated.

The air travel tax removal depends solely on airlines. They’re being asked to open new routes and increase passenger numbers. The tax will stay if those things aren’t granted.

He also mentioned the VAT on hotels, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and other attractions will have a reduced tax of nine percent, down from 13.5.

They will be more lax on short-term visa requirements to encourage tourism.
