Spain stands to see a 3.5 point increase in foreign tourist arrivals in 2011

Through 2010, Spain hemorrhaged tourism dollars as places like Egypt saw an uptick in European travel.

However, several factors this summer could make Spain an attractive and affordable getaway for many Europeans once again.

Spanish hotel operators say they are expecting one of their best summers in years as political unrest in North Africa coupled with rising fuel prices in Europe will likely keep more Europeans closer to home on their summer holidays.

Euromonitor International, a London-based research firm, expects foreign arrivals in Spain to increase 3.5 percent to 54.3 million in 2011.
