Texas ‘Anti-Groping’ Legislation Fails to Pass Legislature CheapOair Staff July 1, 2011 general Anti-groping bill fails in Texas — again. After being pressured by conservatives and Tea Party activists, Republican Governor Rick Perry went ahead and pushed for an anti-groping bill that would have made it a crime for TSA officials to "touch the anus, sexual organs, buttocks or breast of another person." If convicted, a worker could have faced up to a year behind bars and a $4,000 fine. Unfortunately for Perry, who is rumored to be running for president, and his supporters, the Senates failed to pass it even though the Texas house approved it in May. Versions of the plan passed in both houses, however once it made its way to the Senate, it was not approved. Legislators vow to get the bill passed. But it may be awhile as the Texas legislature only convenes once every other year.
