Travel Tech: Mobiata Updates FlightTrack & FlightBoard Apps CheapOair Staff July 7, 2011 general Mobiata updates popular travel apps Want to impress your travel companions and turn your iPhone, iPad or Android device into a departures or arrivals board for nearly every airport around the world? Well, you can do just that with Mobiata’s FlightBoard apps ($3.99) and the company has just fine-tuned the app and added new features for the version of the app compatible with the iPhone and iPad. The app has always had the look and feel of arrivals and departures boards at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, giving you the ability to view flight statuses, updated every five minutes or so. The new iOS version of FlightBoard has been redesigned with an updated user interface, and you now can access flight tracking info for individual flights. In other tweaks, FlightBoard uses GPS functionality to default to the airport closest to your current location and terminal information is displayed if there is no gate information available. Mobiata has also refurbished its popular FlightTrack app ($4.99) for iPhone and iPad, adding a My Travel Details tab. You can use the tab to store confirmation numbers and seat assignments and you now have the ability to jot down some notes. Other new wrinkles in the FlightTrack app for iPhone and iPad include a calendar view to select flight dates, and automatic removal of previous flights from both your calendar and flight list. FlightTrack’s preferences area has also been updated to make it easier to manage your settings, Mobiata says. The updates to both apps were rolled out at the end of June.
