American Airlines Aims to Keep NYC-Tokyo Route CheapOair Staff July 19, 2011 general Wishing on a Waiver American Airlines has put its request in with the U.S. Transportation Department to keep its New York-Tokyo route. The airline is asking the department to waive its “use-it-or-lose-it” clause on the route. It’s currently suffering from lack of demand. It restarted July 1st after being suspended in April due to the earthquake and tsunami. The star-telegram.com report said the American is looking to have the waiver on the route until June 1st of next year.
