Cuba Tourism Sees Increase in Visitors CheapOair Staff July 30, 2011 general Numbers Expected to Continue to Rise According to a government report released Friday, Cuban tourism was up in June. Tourists coming into the U.S. were up 10.6 percent for the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2010. Cuba reported over 2.50 million tourists in 2010, a large chunk of which came in from Canada (945,000). Canada was followed by Britain (174,000) then Italy (112,000). U.S. citizens visiting Cuba climbed 20 percent in 2010, 63,000 people visited. The destination had revenue of $2.2 billion. A prediction of over 100,000 Americans not from Cuba will visit the destination this year. The influx of tourists is due to President Obama loosening travel restrictions on Cuba. Source: Reuters
