Now we’re back with some more good news for booze lovers: today marks the start of California Wine Month! The month-long celebration coincides with September’s peak harvest season and is chock-full of events that are perfect for every palette. Here are just a few events going on this month that are sure to have wine-lovers scrambling to book last-minute flights to California: Taste of Sonoma (Labor Day Weekend): More than 170 award-winning wineries and 60 chefs will show of their talents at MacMurray Ranch in Sonoma. Guests can participate in a number of wine auctions, seminars, cooking demonstrations, and vineyard tours. Pinotfest (Sept. 16): Celebrate your Pinot passion with a beach party and charity auction in Monterey, CA. Several local wineries will be pouring Pinot while live music acts provide the perfect soundtrack. There will also be plenty of food! California Wine Rush (Sept. 17): Enjoy a glass or two at this walk-around tasting inside the Grand Hall of the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco. Visitors will be able to sample wines from more than a dozen different regions in California! Masters of Food & Wine (Sept. 24): World-class chefs and expert sommeliers explain the science behind perfect pairings at this event. Enjoy fine California wine, delicious food, and plenty of interactive workshops. Savor the Central Coast 2011 (Sept. 29 – Oct. 2): Close out Wine Month with one of the largest wine events in the county, featuring more than 200 wineries from around the state.
