It’s Hip and Happening!

It’s hard to think of somewhere in London that’s more hip, happening and delicious than Broadway Market. There’s a great variety of vendors selling everything from German-style sausages to burgers right off the grill to home made Caribbean food and some of the best vegetarian Indian street food you’ll find outside of India.

Not into street food? Not a problem! There are a couple of great pubs, more than a couple of good restaurants and cafes with outdoor sitting area and even a traditional pie and mash shop. And if find that you just need some quick refreshment, you can grab a freshly hacked open coconut from the friendly man at the Nutritious Food Galley.  The Saturday market is, of course, also an excellent opportunity to do some actual grocery shopping with many vendors selling organic meets, fresh fish, handmade dairy products and a wide variety of fruit and veg.

A handful of antique and furniture shops, vintage clothing dealers, art galleries and other quirky independent shops make Broadway Market the perfect remedy for “brand burnout” and offer a refreshing alternative to “High Street London.”

Situated in one of London’s trendiest areas, folks flock to Broadway Market. It’s easy to understand why Broadway Market is such a popular success. Besides the quality of the stuff for sale, the market has an awful lot of factors working in its favour. In particular, its location cannot be beat. This Saturday street market is located along a short stretch of road (which itself called Broadway Market) that’s lined by Victoria era buildings and wedged between the scenic Regent’s Canal and the leafy and spacious London Fields park.

An ideal way to spend a sunny Saturday would be to start things off with a leisurely stroll along the canal’s towpath. Replete with bobbling canal boats, working locks, swans and other waterfowl, fabulous pubs and some of London’s best graffiti, the canal is great for taking in London sights and culture at your own pace.

Once you arrive at the Market, give it a once over to see what looks tastiest to you, purchase your treats and then head up the street to London Fields. Originally the common ground for drovers pasturing their livestock before taking them to be sold, records of London Fields date all the way back to the 1500. Today, you’re more likely to see locals in the Fields’ 30 acres of green space walking their dogs, playing a round of cricket or enjoying a picnic with goodies bought at Broadway Market.

After your pit stop, nestle into one of the nearby pubs, carry on with your canal walk or pick up some groceries or gifts.
