This philanthropic thrift shop destination is located in the heart of Union Square, where many shoppers, locals and tourists are often seen. Find everything from wicked vinyls to a pair of old Ray Bans. All profits benefit Diabetes Research Institution. Founded by a diabetes stricken woman, the place itself has lots of flair; organized and color coordinated as if it was the H&M of the Thrift Shop world.

The Body Shop: Winter blues may include missing the warm summer months, but it also means dry skin. Located in many spots around New York is The Body Shop, which is not only known for friendly ingredients, but also supports a cause. Often buyers of The Body Shop are fans of their softening lotions and natural body products, but did you know they also support unique campaigns? Most of their campaigns revolve around the global awareness of domestic violence, but also include awareness of HIV and AIDS, and currently, The Trafficking of Children and Young People

Ojon at Sephora: Trying to maintain good hair at a good price in a city with many weather phenomenons may be difficult, but not impossible. If you happen to be a Sephora junkie, which luckily are located all over Manhattan, you may have noticed the Ojon line of haircare. This Canadian company not only provides fair trade products that result in luscious locks, but they also support the very products they use. The company works with a Hondura nonprofit organization where the Ojon oil was found and used by the corporation. Using their products supports natural beauty products and the indigenous tribes of the Hondura Rainforest region to improve a better lifestyle for these impoverish natives.

Nordstrom Treasure and Bond: If you happen to be enjoying the shopping experience in SoHo, keep your eyes peeled for Nordstrom, a well known department store featuring higher end products. Their latest venue has committed themselves to donating store profits to not just one charity, but a few. Each quarter, a cycle of charities will benefit from those who are avid shoppers. Some of the charities include Children’s Health Fund and Pediatric Cancer Care for Memorial Sloan Kettering. Who would have thought shopping all year could support so many charities?
