Phantom of The Opera in Vegas to Close Curtain for Good CheapOair Staff January 15, 2012 general An Ad for the Vegas Show Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of The Opera will be shutting down in Las Vegas come September 2nd. The Vegas production is expected to run 2,691 shows by the time the curtain drops for the last time. It’s being run at Venetian. The closure dwindles down the number of Phantom showcases to one, the Broadway edition at the Majestic Theatre, which will reach 10,000 performances in February. Mr. Lloyd Webber himself commented on the closing of the Las Vegas Phantom of The Opera in the Los Angeles Times. “The Las Vegas production of Phantom took all of the classic elements of the show and added unique aspects that created a whole new experience… It enjoyed remarkable success in Las Vegas, was enjoyed by millions of fans and proved that a timeless love story told in a fantastic theater will always be in vogue.” Sadly, reasons to book a flight to Las Vegas just dropped by one.
