A great guide to London shopping

It’s not surprising that London has been named the European shopping capital. But with the largest mall in Europe, a host of famous department stores and hundreds of stores dotted along Oxford and Regent Street, don’t get lost in transaction when you visit London in 2012.

As presented by Time Out London, this video outlines the best of the best when it comes to London shopping. Among the big names that made the top of Time Out’s 2011 100 best shops feature are Harrods and Liberty. Even if you don’t fancy splashing out this time, both these London stores are worth a visit purely as stunning cultural attractions.

Don’t be afraid to venture east next time you cheap catch flights to London. Shoreditch has opened itself up as the capital’s hippest new region to find either a vintage bargain or some quirky designer brands. On Sundays, roll up to Brick Lane Market for delicious street food, unusual antiques, and affordable locally designed clothing and accessories.

If you want to join the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street for some retail therapy, it’s best to go during the evening when things calm down a little.

It’s also important to find time for afternoon tea at many of these great department stores. Do as the British do and settle down to some 3:00 p.m. scones in one of Harrods’ many restaurants or the department store’s helpfully named The Tea Room.

Follow Time Out’s trusted advice and you won’t go wrong next time you go shopping in London.
