If you’re like most travelers, you probably tune out those monotonous airport announcements reminding you that smoking is prohibited and that you should watch over personal items at all times. It’s just human nature.

That’s why more airports, hoping to grab the attention of travel-worn passengers, have turned to celebrities to get their important messages across.

At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, artists with local ties, like Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains, have signed on to handle a variety of PSA duties. Cantrell reminds passengers that smoking is allowed only in designated areas (adding “…bummer dude!”), while Gibbard helps travelers stay abreast of the latest TSA policies.

According to a report from MSNBC, Seattle is just the latest of a growing number of airports to enlist the help of celebs. The report names hubs in Branson, Missouri; Nashville, Tennessee; and Las Vegas, Nevada as some of the most notable airports to join in the trend.
