Sagrada Familia

If you wanted to personify Barcelona, you’d have to say she’s a sizzling woman who just loves life. Barcelona is the city with heart, culture and vibrancy; a thriving metropolis on the Mediterranean. You can’t help but enjoy the outdoor sites with so many influences of historical moments, fascinating architecture and scenic vistas. Bring extra batteries and a memory card; you’ll be snapping away at the gorgeous landmarks Barcelona has to offer.

La Boqueria: You can’t enjoy Spain without getting a taste of its succulent flavors. Barcelona is quickly becoming a gastronomical location with its typical cuisine mixed with international influences. Take yourself to La Boqueria, the local food market in Barcelona. The bright colors of candied fruit, vegetables and fresh meat will automatically draw you in. A photograph of the entrance itself is also nice; displaying the emblem of the market that has existed since 1217.

Spanish Village: Poble Espnyol: High arcs greet you in its typical Spanish style at the Spanish Village. This attraction is an example of what a traditional village looked like. It’s an open air museum, yet also a meeting place where you can buy artisan items. This one stop spot is the perfect place to get photographs of locals, unique art and typical Spanish architecture. And when the day is done, enjoy the nightlife and discothèques.

Port Vell: Otherwise known as Old Harbor, Port Vell is one of the best tourist attractions in Barcelona. What was once a run-down area of factories and warehouses was redeveloped for the 1992 Olympics and now attracts millions of visitors annually. Perhaps it’s the old buildings in white stone, or the view of the boats on the water. The best way to enjoy Port Vell is to walk through the pedestrian walkway that leads you through the mall, which has a multiplex cinema and chic restaurants on the water. But, the best way to photograph Port Vell is from above at the nearby Columbus Monument for an aerial view.

Sagrada Familia: Everyone knows it’s typically touristy to visit Barcelona to get a view of the unfinished Sagrada Familia, but it has to be for good reason. Gaudi’s breathtaking cathedral seems like just another church, but once you take a look at the intricate detail in its structure, you’ll see why it’s such a timely piece. Look out for the detailed Nativity Facade, one of the most impressive parts which tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. You can also take a trip up to the towers where you’ll have a panoramic view of Barcelona.

The Magic Fountains of Montjuic: This attraction is a treat for all ages, whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart. The Magic Fountains of Montjuic is an illuminated fountain near Plaza Espanya. It has a rich history dating back to the Spanish Civil War when its grand opening was delayed. It was restored prior to the 1992 Olympics to not only provide a light show, but to play music as well. It’s a perfect spot for a romantic night shot, or for the kids to snap photographs of every color the fountain displays. (Hint: There are multiple color arrangements!)
