Dumbo the Flying Elephant Ride

The largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history is currently underway in Fantasyland; completed later next year, the land will double its current size.  If you don’t want to wait that long to plan your Disney World vacation, you don’t have to.  The new Fantasyland is rolling out in phases, and guests have already begun to experience many elements of the new Fantasyland, especially in Storybook Circus.

Storybook Circus, an area based almost exclusively on the classic Disney film Dumbo, has already begun its opening.  Everywhere you look in the land there are nods to Dumbo and his circus pals: elephant footprints on the ground and even peanut shells tossed about.  One of Disney’s most iconic rides, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, has donned some serious upgrades.  As any parent can attest, one of the worst parts of riding the Dumbo ride is the line—waiting (with kids!) in the sun and heat for any extended period of time is certainly one of parenting’s toughest challenges.  Luckily, this July, a brand new air conditioned and shaded Big Top will open.  Instead of waiting in line, guests will now be able to grab a pager, enter the cool Big Top, and play away at circus themed games and hands-on activities.  When it’s time to hop aboard Dumbo, your pager will ring and you will be whisked onto the ride.  In addition to this fun play area in lieu of a queue, the ride will soon duplicate itself boasting half the boarding time.

The Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station has also opened in Storybook Circus land.  The area offers guests the chance to cool down with fun and interactive water features based on the Casey Jr. Circus train from Dumbo.  Storybook Circus also includes the brand new ride called the Barnstormer, an airplane themed rollercoaster hosted by Goofy.  Lots of fantastic new fun in Fantasyland!
