 Billie Swamp Safari Action!

You don’t necessarily have to go to Costa Rica to visit natural attractions—you can find a few just in the United States’ backyard at Fort Lauderdale. That doesn’t mean the landscape is only all alligators and swamps: there are as many natural attractions in Fort Lauderdale as what you’d expect to find in the jungle. Here are five ways you can get your flora and fauna fix in Florida:
Anne Kolb Nature Center: This ecosystem has over 1,500 mangroves and you can explore it by kayak, boat or boardwalk trails in case you want a safer option. Spend a leisurely morning there or take in an entire day, kayaking and learning.
Billie Swamp Safari: With 2,200 acres of exotic Everglades, the Billie Swamp Safari is an excellent place to rent Swamp Buggys and take a tour. A haven for naturalists and photographers alike, Safari gives you an option to camp in an authentic Seminole Chickee Hut, and is part of an Indian Reservation.
Butterfly World: Located in Coconut Creek, the Butterfly World houses thousands of butterflies and a lush waterfall too. This is also an excellent spot for brides to get their pictures taken. Check out:  the Australian Lorikeets that are hand fed.
Flamingo Gardens: There is nothing better in the world than to see a sea of pink flamingos…and at these Gardens, you’ll find over 60 acres with more than 70 native birds and several hundred rare plants. You can also see alligators and panthers. The Gardens are located in Davie.
Snake Warrior’s Island: This nature preserve is well over 50 acres and has several bird trails tailored for those who don’t want to leave home without their binoculars. It also features archaeological islands and wetlands as well.
