The Kids Can Kick it in San Francisco for Halloween!

Looking for some kid-friendly spooky fun in and around San Francisco?  Check out these not-so-terrifying spots in the Bay area to enjoy with your kids.

Head to the San Francisco Zoo to enjoy “Boo at the Zoo” this October 27th and 28th.  The zoo is full of candy treat stations, puppet shows, Halloween crafts, and spooky songs.  Check out the new bats exhibit for an extra special treat.   Don’t miss Snoopy’s Costume Party at the Great America theme park.  Kids 12 and under can come dressed in costume to play and trick-or-treat with the PEANUTS gang.  A unique pumpkin patch features boat loads of bubbles to play in.
Just outside Santa Cruz, reserve a spot aboard the Roaring Camp Railroad Ghost Train.  Running only October 26th and 27th, the train takes guests through a “haunted forest” while hearing the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  Stages along the way show guests part of the action, and games and other activities will take place at the camp.
In Oakland, be sure to visit Children’s Fairyland where kids can enjoy the JACK O’LANTERN JAMBOREE.  Dubbed “more delightful than frightful,” the littlest ones in your family will love the festivities including bounce houses, balloons, crafts, a costume parade, rides, giveaways, and face painting.  Admission is $10.

If you are looking for a great place to explore for the littlest members of your family, head to the Habitot Children’s Museum in downtown Berkeley.  They will be hosting a Not-Too-Spooky Halloween party on October 31st in the morning where preschoolers and younger kiddos can come in costume, play mini golf, create themed crafts like masks and wands, and hear fun spooky stories.  The following day is a free admission day so be sure to head back for a kid-friendly exploration of Dia de los Muertos.

Also in Berkeley, you can visit the shops on 4th Street to trick-or-treat from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Halloween night.  Live music, free photo booths, face-painting, games, and story times will take place throughout the evening.

If you’re in the Sausalito area, you can enjoy free Halloween festivities and a parade from 5:45 p.m. – 8 p.m. on the 31st.  The parade begins at the Fire Station on Johnson & Caledonia Streets and the festival boasts numerous kid-friendly events and activities throughout this community based party.
