Philadelphia Airport Debuts Body Scanners CheapOair Staff October 29, 2010 general Philadelphia airport gets body scanners Another day, another airport gets equipped with the controversial body scanners. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) unveiled the new machines at the Philadelphia International Airport this past Wednesday. The machines, which have made the news all year for concerns over privacy and health risks, create a computerized image of a person's body. This allows TSA agents to better screen for both plastic and metal weapons. Passengers that opt out of using the body scanner will receive a pat-down from a TSA agent. Speaking of which, the TSA announced a new way to search people via the pat-down this week. From now on agents will use the front of their hands, including running their hands up a passenger's leg. So after hearing your options for being screened in a U.S. airport, which one sounds worse to you? Leave a comment below.
