Royal Caribbean will donate money made in Haiti port to relief efforts

In light of the tragic events in Haiti, the travel industry has chipped in to do their part in helping out victims of last week's 7.0 earthquake that rocked the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

One of the largest foreign investors in Haiti, Royal Caribbean International, said that after long consideration they will continue to make a port of call in the Labadee section of Haiti.

Royal Caribbean said it will donate all the money it makes at the Labadee stop in addition to the million dollars they donate towards the relief effort.

What's more, Royal said paying passengers will be able to donate towards the Haiti relief fund via their onboard accounts and that the cruise ships will deliver much needed relief supplies in partnership with U.S. based charity Food for the Poor. 

Meanwhile many airlines are helping out by way of their mileage programs.

American Airlines customers that make a donation through the company's website will be rewarded with bonus points.

United Airlines is allowing frequent fliers to donate their miles to charities which will assist in transporting relief workers to Haiti.
