The Pup-walk!

Great news! One of north London's best loved and most picturesquely placed pubs is going to the dogs.

Originally a tollhouse built in the 16th century and now a rustic destination pub with a fantastic kitchen, the historic Spaniards Inn set amidst the rolling green acres of Hampstead Heath is to host its annual dog show at the end of this month. Returning for a fourth year, Pup Idol is a fun and friendly fundraising event for All Dogs Matter, a charity whose mission is to rescue and re-home unwanted and abandoned dogs.

 
Says All Dogs Matter founder Ira Moss:

We are thrilled to be presenting the fourth Pup Idol, which helps to raise vital funds to rescue and re-home as many stray dogs as possible that come into our care each year. Previous events have proved to be a great success within the local community. Last year tickets went like hot cakes, so we’re hoping to reach an even wider audience. Book your spot before it sells out!

A panel of celebrity judges including Coronation Street actress, Michelle Collins, Downton Abbey star, Peter Egan, and BBC London’s, Anna Good and Jo Webb, will be making sure the best of man's best friends win categories like Miss Hampstead and best dog/owner lookalike.

For the spectators, the inn will be serving a range BBQ dishes along the lines of handmade ribeye and chuck beef burgers and grilled vegetable kebabs with sweet potato dip along with a selection of beers straight from the barrel, jugs of seasonal Pimms and more from an alfresco pop up bar.

Obviously, The Spaniards Inn is a very dog friendly establishment. In fact, even before hosting Pup Idol, the pub was well regarded for welcoming furry four-legged guests with its very own dog wash and canine treats, making it the ideal place for dog walkers visiting the heath.

Pup Idol takes place Saturday June 29th from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the inn's gardens. To register your dog, arrive by 10:30 a.m. with £5 to pay for the entry fee.
