The American Museum of Natural History in New York City is a
wonderful and affordable experience for travelers of all ages.  The historic building is located right next
to Central Park on the Upper West Side, in a beautiful part of the city best
seen during the day.  The Museum was made
especially popular by the film, Night at
the Museum
, and fans will recognize the museum right away by its large
statue of Teddy Roosevelt on horseback at the front entrance.

The Museum is large and is comprised of dozens of buildings with
various themes of natural science and different levels of complexity.  Visitors can see dioramas of animal and plant
life from around the world, as well as historic artifacts documenting the progression
of mankind through tribal life in various parts of the world.  The Ocean Life section is the most visually
stimulating, with a life size blue whale suspended above visitors head, and
more beautiful diorama’s of sea life around the perimeter.   Another special attraction is the Hayden
Planetarium and the Rose Center.  Even if
you opt out of the additional cost to visit the planetarium, the Rose center
takes you on a cylindrical journey of the Universe’s history, from its
inception to modern day, with descriptive and interesting displays as visitors progress
up the winding path to the Planetarium.
