Take the Kids Inside CNN!

CNN boasts 48 branches across the globe. The largest, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is open for tours offering your budding broadcaster a look inside the intricacies and inner-workings of mass media.

Located in Atlanta’s revitalized downtown core, CNN Center offers older kids and their parents an exclusive look into the workings of their television studio.  Entrance into the building itself is free.  Families can enjoy a public area including a food court and retail shops.  If a behind-the-scenes tour is more your style, there are three different tour packages available to suit the interests of your children.

Inside CNN Studio Tour

This basic, walking tour lasts under one hour and provides an opportunity for families with kids of any age to visit the studio and get into the action.  During the tour, you will visit real studios, learn facts and history about this broadcasting giant, explore how the news cycle works, and even visit Studio 7E, where you will have the chance to watch yourself on a television screen as you try reading the news off of a teleprompter!  The CNN studio tour also takes you up the world’s longest freestanding escalator!

Tours run daily, departing every 10 minutes. $15/adults; $12/children.

Morning Express Tour

Families with kids 12 and older can enjoy the Morning Express Tour.  This tour takes visitors into the HLN Studio H where Morning Express with Robin Meade is taped.  If she is available, you can even chat with Robin and get a commemorative photo of your encounter.  You and your family will get to step into the control room – just don’t go pushing any buttons!  Guests on this tour will receive an Inside CNN Travel Mug and souvenir picture.

Tours are offered most Thursday mornings at 8:30 A.M.  $49.

Inside CNN VIP Tour

The VIP Tour, also offered only for adults and children over the age of 12, puts visitors in the action of their most commonly used and state-of-the-art HD Studio 7.  Visitors will tour the HLN Control Room and visit the CNN and HLN newsrooms to learn how news is processed and broadcast. The VIP tours are small and more personal with no more than 12 guests visiting at a time.  A Souvenir photo is included with your visit.

Tours run daily (except Sundays), departing at 11:10 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. $35.

General Tips for Families:
•    Reservations for all tours are highly recommended.
•    Live broadcasts typically are filmed weekdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., although live news breaks can occur at any time.
•    A limited amount of elevator-based tours are offered daily; strollers are not permitted.
