Every May the horticultural world descends on the same 30 sites in Chelsea for the world famous Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show, which is without doubt the most prestigious event for horticulture and gardening, and for many the quintessential springtime event on the London calendar.

The show has been held on the grounds of the Chelsea Royal Hospital since 1913, and this year celebrates its centenary with what promises to be a true and especially florid spectacle. Featuring gardens created by some of the world’s best garden designers, an awe inspiring selection of plants from UK and international growers, the very best in gardening products, captivating designs for small spaces, spectacular floristry displays and more, visitors can expect a catwalk of color and creativity, the brightest new ideas and latest trends in gardening and outdoor design.

Not only does the Chelsea Flower Show represent the pinnacle of horticultural excellence, it also offers a great day out with a wide range of catering facilities at the show, offering everything from a quick sandwich to three course meals. Visitors looking for an extra special dining experience can visit The Rock Bank Restaurant, where booking ahead is a must, the Laurent-Perrier Champagne Bar or the Seafood & Champagne Restaurant. Light refreshments and snacks can be found at the Plateau Café or at the various Food Courts, which all serve delicious snacks throughout the show along with views of the nearby River Thames.

The show also offers plenty of shopping opportunities, with a wide range of accessories to decorate any garden and some of the newest and most innovative gardening products. Visitors are able to see the products shortlisted for the RHS’ Garden Product of the Year competition.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show will run from the 21st to the 25th of May at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London, SW3 4SR. The nearest London Underground station is at Sloane Square. The first two days are for RHS members only. Any year, the Flower Show proves to be an incredibly popular event. With 2013 festivities focused on the show’s 100th anniversary, this year should prove even more so. Ticket are still available but going fast!
