Rock ‘n’ Roll Photos at Quaglino’s Restaurant in London CheapOair Staff February 5, 2013 general Jimi! A number of iconic photographs taken by renowned music photographer, Gered Mankowitz, are on show now at London fine dining establishment, Quaglino’s. Attractively arranged in the restaurant’s bar, the show is simply titled Rock ‘n’ Roll and features a collection of images of Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. Initially inspired to pursue photography by the famous actor, Peter Sellers, Mankowitz went on to have an extensive 50-year career photographing some of the biggest names in the music industry and supplying many magazines with celebrity portraits. Adding to the rock ‘n’ roll glamour of the show, a special range of cocktails has been created by Quaglino’s bar manager, Michal Zawerbny. Priced at £15 (about $23) for two, you can choose a Rock ‘n’ Roll or a Jimi’s Choice to enjoy while viewing the photography. Since opening in 1929, Quaglino’s has served as an upscale dining destination for royalty, rock stars and high society alike. It offers an extensive brasserie-inspired menu and specializes in fresh crustacea and platters of fruits de mer. The art-deco inspired dining room features a sweeping central staircase and eight decorated columns, and the space also features a buzzing mezzanine bar and two private dining rooms. Of course, if you just want to pop in for a look at Mankowitz’s work or to grab a rock inspired cocktail at the handsome bar, you’ll still be made to feel welcome. And if you happened to want to take a photo home as a souvenir, all works on show are available to purchase, with prices starting from £750 (just under $1200). Quaglino’s is located at 16 Bury Street, SW1Y 6AJ. Visit quaglinos-restaurant.co.uk for more details.
