This three week tour challenges the best of the best in a race through lovely European cities and countryside’s where millions line up to catch a glimpse of the action. This national race is an experience of a lifetime and worth a trip to Paris to see the winner take all.

The Landscapes

France and the regions surrounding the area are some of the most beautiful and breathtaking landscapes in the world. Imagine these fast peddling bicyclists trying to get up large, steep mountains nearly 7,000 feet above sea level. Whether they are going up and down mountains or at sea level going through villages, there is always a sight to see on the Tour de France and we just love the variety of places as the tour continues every day.

It Encourages a Healthy Habit

Let’s face it- these athletes are challenging their bodies to embark on a long scale race and they almost make it look too easy! Bicycling through different terrains and atmospheres can take a toll on the body, but it mostly defines and shapes us as well. We love how the Tour de France makes us want to hop on our bikes and go on our own tour, or at least go beyond the end of the block.

It Will Begin in Corsica

If you got an A in Geography, you’ll know that Corsica is located on an island just outside of France. It is true that the 2013 Tour de France will begin on this island where French emperor Napoleon was born. This year’s tour is special because it will be the first competed only on French soil since the 1980s. It is also significant because Corsica has never been part of the tour in its 100 year history. We can imagine what gorgeous views will be displayed, especially with roads by the sea and against the mountains during the peak of summer.

It’s the 100th Anniversary

There are so many reasons to celebrate the 2013 Tour de France, but one biggest one is that this will be the 100th annual grand extravaganza. This cycling race that began in 1903 and almost ended the year after because how big the event was getting would turn out to be one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

It Always Ends in Paris

We’ll always have Paris and we’ll always know that the race will end in the grand capital of France. What better place for a race to end than in the City of Lights where cyclists can get some serious R&R at a boutique hotel. Or perhaps they’ll finally enjoy a cheat day from their cycling diet and enjoy some French bread and wine. The Champs-Élysées stage in the Tour de France has been the conclusion of the race since 1975 and this just gives us more reasons to want to visit Paris.
