Spring Skiing in Telluride, Colorado CheapOair Staff March 2, 2010 Family Travel, Interests Skiing in Telluride, Colorado To save money on a ski trip, try booking a family ski trip in mid-March. It’s a great time to find incredible airfare deals – and some great family ski packages. Plus, if you travel before the craziness of Spring Break, you’ll not only save money – but lots of wait time in long ski lines on the slopes. I have featured some of my favorite ski town, but Telluride, Colorado tops my list as one of our family’s favorite destinations. If you go, you may spot Oprah or Tom Cruise, who both have homes there. Kids of all ages will love the village Sleigh Ride Dinners on Wednesdays under the famously starlit sky. Diners are met by a snowcat-drawn sleigh at the base of Village Express (Lift 4) and taken up to Gorrono Ranch. Families can enjoy a western-style buffet and a drink on the deck around the fire. Registered guests gather in the Ski School/Sales Lobby, where hot chocolate and hot cider is served before departure. Telluride’s quaint Victorian village looks like a movie set, nestled along the San Miguel River. There are many wonderful full-service hotels and bed and breakfasts. Enjoy shopping on Main Street, where local shop owners make it a personal experience. As far as skiing goes, 23 percent of the slopes are for Beginners, 36 percent for Intermediate and 41 percent are Advanced/Expert slopes. But, don’t worry if you don’t ski because there are also guided snow-mobile and snow-shoe tours that make winter a whole different kind of adventure.
