2018 Winter Olympics Awarded to Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang, South Korea was announced as the destination for the 2018 Winter Olympics Wednesday.

It was the third time Pyeongchang bid; they were defeated in 2010 and 2014.

This time they were able to overcome Annecy, France and Munich, Germany. It was the fewest number of entrants for the Winter Olympics since 1981.

Voting took place in Durban, South Africa.
