Cherry Blossoms Festival in Washington DC

Spring is in the air and on the trees as well in Washington DC so that means the annual Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off this weekend.

From Saturday March 26 through Sunday April 11 nearly 4,000 trees will bloom to the enjoyment of visitors and locals alike.

The best time to view the cherry blossoms will be over Easter weekend. This annual event started back in 1912 when Tokyo, Japan presented Washington DC with cherry trees.

Although a rough winter did damage some of the trees, park officials said that they fully expect most trees to blossom fully.
