The high court sided with Governor Rick Scott, upholding his decision to reject federal funding for the project. Scott opposed construction of the line saying he did not want taxpayers on the hook for overruns on construction and operational costs. Supporters of the rail system filed a lawsuit, claiming Scott was bound by the law to accept the stimulus money. The court disagreed, however, and now the funds will be offered to other states.
