Smaller events take place throughout the week, with updates being given about locations via Facebook and Twitter; however, the main event takes place on Friday nights at Fort Mason. Located in the Marina District, Fort Mason becomes home to most of San Francisco's food trucks every Friday night with a plethora of options, from Korean BBQ to fish tacos to empanadas to fried dumplings to falafel and much more. There's also great live music.

 

Wine and Cheese Tastings: For wine enthusiasts, there's no better place than Northern California. The inspiration of nearby Sonoma and Napa has made its way to San Francisco with many wine bars, cellars, and wine shops. Almost any weekend you'll find a wine event taking place, although the city also features many wine bars that provide excellent wine and cheese pairings any night of the week. With San Francisco being such a walkable city, map out a few places and turn it into a wine crawl, but leave it to public transportation to get you back to your place safely.

 

Chocolate Tour: Many have tabbed San Francisco as the premier chocolate destination in the U.S. From the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory to a number of boutique chocolate shops, you'll have no problem getting your hands on some of the best in the world. Gourmet Walks is one tour that takes visitors on a three-hour chocolate excursion of San Francisco. You'll need to be walking with all the chocolate you'll be stuffing your face with on this tour.

This should come as no surprise since San Francisco has one of the largest Chinatowns in the world. The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory is one of the producers of fortune cookies in San Francisco. Visitors can see exactly how fortune cookies are made and then try a fresh cookie for themselves.

 

Ghirardelli Square: Ghirardelli Square often gets overlooked by the touristy Fisherman's Wharf, but is a San Francisco gem. As you'd expect, the Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop is the highlight, featuring a wide-range of Ghirardelli products that have made it one of the premier chocolate companies in the world. Ghirardelli Square also has many restaurants and bars that make for a nice nightcap.
