Bermuda feels Igor’s wrath

Hurricane Igor hit Bermuda with strong 75 mph winds and ferocious waves overnight, with the storm now currently moving away from the Atlantic island en route to the north-northeast.

The storm was downgraded to barely a Category 1 hurricane as it reached the British territory Sunday. While it is not expected to reach the U.S., many beaches along the eastern seaboard can expect to experience high surf and powerful rip currents due to Igor.
