There are plenty of mobile apps, such as Yelp and Open Table, on the market which enable you to search for restaurants in a city you are visiting, but along comes an app specifically geared to help you remember a restaurant you’ve already sampled.

Favaurants — as in favorite restaurants — is targeted toward frequent flyers and road warriors who may be scratching their heads when they arrive in Washington, D.C., or perhaps San Francisco and are trying to remember that otherwise unforgettable Italian restaurant they visited last year.

That restaurant business card may be lying in a pile somewhere at home or in the office, but where is it when you need it?

Favaurants, from Techselect Consulting of Scottsdale, Ariz., recently arrived in the iTunes store and is available for download for $0.99. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and can be used with iOS 4 and higher.

Once you establish your favorite restaurants, you can filter them by city and restaurant for easy recollection and access. Using the app, you can do standard things like viewing the restaurant’s website and perusing its menu, but you can also write comments for your own reference about the music, the crowd, the maitre d’s name and the conversation you had with a waiter or waitress a year-and-a-half ago.

And, even if you have trouble sometimes remembering these sorts of details, you can, of course, add your restaurant reservation to a calendar so you won’t be late for dinner.

Perhaps the company’s next app project should be LeastFavaurants. These restaurants should be remembered, as well.
