“M&M’s Buckingham Palace guard at Attention”

As with its sister sites in Las Vegas, Orlando and New York, the M&M’s World in London offers a shopping experience on a massively grand scale and is a must-see mecca for any fan of the famously chocolate mini morsels. In fact with 35,000 square feet of retail space, Europe’s first and only M&M’s World is actually the largest candy store on the planet.

But, of course, there’s only one kind of candy available here. Yep, you guessed it, M&M’s. But getting your M&M fix here is a whole lot different than simply grabbing a pack at your local convenience store. The shop features a giant “wall of chocolate” where chocoholics can create their own M&M’s selection from more than a hundred choices. Only want the green ones (wink wink, nudge nudge)? Or got a habit of cherry picking all the red ones out? Have your M&M’s as monotone or as customized and rainbow coloured as you see fit.

Beyond the chocolate coated treats for sale, the many racks, shelves and displays spread across this mega-shop’s four floors tempt with every sort of M&M’s merchandise imaginable – from t-shirts and hoodies to kitchenware and glassware, bedding, jewelry, soft toys and lots lots more.

In addition to the ample opportunities to spend money, the shop provides a few free London-centric photo ops for tourists as well. There’s the “M&M’s Road” homage to the Beatles’ legendary Abbey Road album cover photograph. There’s an M&M’s knight in shining armour to pose beside. There’s even an M&M’s Buckingham Palace guard at attention and ever ready to defend. All are life size with enough room around them to squeeze the whole family in for a snapshot souvenir to remind you of the fun times you had in London.

And as you might have guessed, the Beatles-esque M&M’s as well as the nutty knight and the palace guard make great souvenirs themselves in the form of soft toys, key chains and graphics on a whole slew candy coated merch.

June will see the one year anniversary of the M&M’s World in London – just in time for the Queen Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Summer Olympics. Situated in the very heart of Central London at Leicester Square, M&M’s World is easy to reach and hard to miss. It’s an excellent meeting point, one stop souvenir shop and … oh yeah … good place for a snack break.
