WiFi now available on Alaska Airlines

Customers on Alaska Airlines will now be able to surf the net while flying the friendly skies thanks to the addition of onboard WiFi service on six of their Boeing 737-800s aircrafts. What’s more, between now and July 31, the airlines will be providing FREE wireless Internet to travelers who use the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card.

With Gogo Inflight service onboard, Alaska Airlines passengers with a laptop or other wireless devices will be
able to browse the Web, send and receive email, access online music, games and much more. Alaska plans to add WiFi to more planes by the end of the summer and should have all of their fleet equipped by the end of 2010. Check out our guide to Gogo inflight WiFi available on various airlines.

Travel to become more entertaining thanks to Apple

Starting this July, many aircrafts will be offering Apple iPad devices as in-flight entertainment. The company Bluebox Avionics will start offering “BlueBox ai” this summer and as a fellow travel geek, I am pretty excited to see what carriers will start handing out iPads onboard.

The in-flight entertainment available on the iPad would include custom designed apps for various airlines, games, eBooks, magazines and other third-party apps made available through the iTunes App Store.
