Passengers who camped out at London Heathrow saw a ray of hope today with news that the airport planned to operate two-thirds of its departures.

No new snow has fallen since Saturday, with airport operator BAA stating staff is finding some success while working to clear the backlog of passengers trapped in terminals.

One of Heathrow’s two runways reopened last night, with hopes the second might return to full operations later today.

Sixty thousand passengers are anticipated to descend from the London airport during Wednesday; with these numbers there are fears that these passengers may swamp available seats.
