Passengers line up to check their bags before take off.

Over the last week five major airlines raised baggage fees

Delta…Continental…United…US Airways…and now American Airlines. Just as we predicted last week right here on the blog, AA joined the other major U.S. carriers by raising their baggage fees as well.

In an attempt to further increase revenue, American Airlines will now charge $25 for the first checked bag, and $35 for a second. That is an increase of $5 for each bag.

The increased fees on bags will only apply to coach fares in the United States,
Puerto Rico and United States Virgin Islands.

Are these new baggage fees changing the way you fly? Are you attempting to travel with just carry-on bags now? Will you use an alternate airline to avoid these crazy fees?

Leave your comments and tell us what you think of the increased surcharges on your luggage.
