It’s official. The Boss will give the keynote address at the 2012 South by Southwest Music Festival in Texas. Over the years, SXSW has become one of the premiere music and multimedia festivals on the calendar in the US.

The 2012 event kicks off on March 9 with a variety of interactive events. The music portion of the festival kicks off on March 13 and will feature more than 2,000 acts from across the globe. Thousands of music fans are expected to board flights to Austin for the festivities.

Bruce Springsteen is scheduled to give his keynote address on March 15 at the Austin Convention Center. He’ll be joining an impressive fraternity. Past keynote speakers have included Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Robert Plant, and Smokey Robinson.
