In what is being called a true Christmas miracle, a Northwest Airlines Airbus A330 jet carrying 278 passengers from Amsterdam to Detroit landed
safely around noon on Christmas Day after passengers helped subdue a Nigerian enginerring student carrying an explosive device.

Not surprisingly, since the "attempted act of Terrorism", Transportation authorities began to impose stricter security practices at
airports nationwide on Saturday. In addition, the TSA implemented new restrictions with passenger's activities during flights for the foreseeable future.

Although it is not on the TSA website as of this posting, Air Canada released a statement that includes one of these new rules. The site reads, “during the final hour of flight customers must remain seated, will not
be allowed to access carry-on baggage, or have personal belongings or
other items on their laps.”

Early Saturday, British Airways' website released a statement advising passengers flying from London to the United States that only one carry on would be allowed for their flight.

It is also advised that passengers planning to fly for the next few days plan even more time for arrival at their area airport. So for example, if your airport advises a two hour arrival time before departure, make it three hours to play it safe for now. The airports are already a mess with holiday travelers, but now with even more screening, it is better to be safe than sorry.
