The cheap seats at the NYC Metropolitan Opera will now cost just $20

In an attempt to boost ticket sales and overall revenue streams, the New York City Metropolitan Opera will introduce a new pricing plan for the 2012-13 season.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Met Opera officials will raise prices for the most sought after seats while lowering prices for the least expensive tickets.

The price for the cheapest tickets will drop from $25 to just $20. The plan will increase the average cost of a ticket by about seven percent while raising projected revenue by 1.5 percent.

More than one-third of the opera’s 3,800 seats will now cost less than $100.
