Plenty to see and do in Louisville after the annual derby

With the Kentucky Derby over, so too is Louisville’s annual weekend as one of the world’s hottest travel destinations. But as The New York Times, National Geographic Traveller and The Wall Street Journal have recently reported, there’s plenty to do in Louisville beyond watch the fastest two minutes in sports.

Here’s a look at events in Louisville that don’t get the media attention the Run for the Roses does, but still can add a sprig of mint to a May visit.

Krazy Fest:
After an eight-year hiatus, Krazy Fest, is returning to Louisville’s Expo 5 May 20–22. The punk festival’s lineup features acts like Against Me!, Anti-Flag, and Lucero playing on three stages.

Senior PGA Championships:
Louisville’s hosts the 72nd Senior PGA Championship May 26-29. Previously the Jack Nicklaus designed course has been the site of the PGA Championship (1996 and 2000) and the Ryder Cup (2008).

Abbey Road on the River:
Held annually on Memorial Day weekend, Abbey Road on the River is the world’s largest Beatles-inspired festival. More than 65 bands from around the world will play on 11 stages over the five-day event held on the shore of the Ohio River. The centerpiece of Abbey Road on the River, now in its 10th year, is likely to be the 90-minute ensemble performance of The Love Album.
