Delta posts $363 million profit in 3Q

 

On Wednesday, Delta Air Lines said it posted a profit in the third quarter and anticipates repeating that in the last three months of the year, international growth drives the global travel recovery.

 

As the leading U.S. carrier to Asia, Delta made 54 percent more money from passengers on flights to and through Asia this summer than it did last year. The airline has added 12 new nonstop trans-Pacific routes since 2008.

 

Sales from flights over the Atlantic increased 25 percent. Domestic and regional flight revenue increased 12 percent each.

 

The company had a net income of $363 million, or 43 cents per share for the quarter. The company recorded a loss of $161 million or 19 cents a share a year earlier.
