Singapore Airlines will be the first carrier in Asia to offer such services

On Tuesday, Singapore Airlines said it would be able to provide passengers in-flight wireless internet access at 35,000 feet in the air, by next year.

The airline’s plan is to create a scheme that will allow access to WiFi Internet and mobile telephony services from as early as the first 6 months of 2011.

SIA said it would be the first major airline in Asia to offer these services, which would be provided as part of its in-flight program.

Passengers will be charged for using the service, which will be offered on all long-haul aircrafts. Details will be announced closer to the launch.
