The Telluride Historical Museum offers a profound insight into the regional Native American heritage, mining history, and cultural festivals through its series of thematic exhibits. You can top this surreal experience through a historic walking tour of Telluride, Hard Rocks, Rough Lives and a Hike into History initiatives that focus on the some salient aspects of the aforementioned attributes. Celebrating its fifty years of inception in 216, the museum is organizing an enterprise called 5 artifacts for 5 years wherein it has featured one fabulous artifact from its collection on its website every week. Some of the major ones depicted by now are Liberty Bell Token (1898 AD), Fiber Sandal (found in a cave in 1959), Pottery Sherds (115-13 AD) and Doeskin Doll (1816).
Black Bear Road (or Forest Service Road 648)
Open only from late July to early September, Black Bear Road is an extremely difficult jeep trail starting from the summit of Red Mountain Pass to Telluride in Colorado. It tops at 1284 feet at the Black Bear Pass after which it snakes over a series of sharp turns and maneuvers above the town. A highlight of this daredevil route is visiting Colorados second highest waterfall, called the Bridal Veil Falls to get an enthralling view of cliffs, waters and rocky terrains.
Telluride Bluegrass Festival
The annual music festival of Telluride Bluegrass Festival is at the very least a surreal marriage of sunshine and music. It is celebrated during the third week of June with the advent of summers and features a wide range of musical performances and band contests, mostly revolving around Bluegrass music. So immense is this festivals popularity that all accommodations in this cute little town are nearly sold out six months before the festival.
