Renton is a city in King County in Washington, United States. The city was initially a nondescript place for salmon fishing until mid-19th century when it volcanically appeared on the world map during the Second World War with its stunning lineup of Boeing B-29 Superfortress fighter planes to counter Hitler’s air supremacy. After the US had emerged victorious in the Second World War, the Boeing factory switched roles to produce its famous commercial airliner called Boeing 737. What happened in between these two events was another stunner, but perhaps more musical and a little sadder. Renton has, in part, been associated with the legendary rock guitarist and singer Jimi Hendrix. He lived in the city for some time during his childhood and was buried here in 1970.
