The city is closely related to a hundred year old history of what is now known as the General Motors of Canada. The company’s former present used to live in his 55-rooms mansion called the Parkwood. This stately manor house has featured in many Hollywood blockbusters like 54, Billy Madison, Chicago and X-Men. If you’d like to touch a piece of city’s glorious automotive and industrial history, a visit to the Canadian Automotive Museum and the Oshawa Military and Industrial Museum would come highly recommended.

It is built into two floors, the ground floors is where numerous old foreign cars are displayed whereas the upper portion features a ‘Made in Canada’ exhibit and hallmarked by cars of General Motors Canada. This living museum displays some of the most prized possessions of Canadian armed forces since 1850s, a distinction that includes armored vehicles (like tanks), jeeps and trucks besides military uniforms, medals, photographs and diaries of the former soldiers. A prime attraction here is the ‘Tank Saturday’, wherein live displays and demonstrations of operational armored fighting vehicles are performed by soldiers of Canadian Army.

You should visit this grand mansion it for its glorious early 20th century architecture, interior designing, gardens and 11 greenhouses.
