City PalaceSituated close to Hawa Mahal is the City Palace which served as the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The construction of the palace was completed in the year 1732. The architecture of the palace is a beautiful amalgamation of Rajput, Mughal, and European style. Even today, part of City Palace serves as a home to the royal family. Located in the City Palace complex are Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, and several iconic gates such as Tripolia Gate, Virendra Pol, Udai Pol, and more. Amber FortNearly 13 kilometers away from the downtown Jaipur, the Amber Fort is located on the city's outskirts. The construction of the fort began during the reign of Raja Man Singh I. The architecture of the fort is a combination of Hindu and Mughal styles. Over the time, this red sandstone fort was modified numerous times by its successive rulers. Amber Fort once served as the seat of the royal family, which was later moved to the City Palace during the reign of Jay Singh II. For nearly 700 years, Amber served as the seat of the royal family.
