Jameh Mosque of EsfahanLocated in Naghsh-e Jahan Square, Jameh Mosque of Esfahan is a stunning display of the evolution of mosque architecture since 841 AD. It is the oldest preserved building of Mosque type in Iran. The complex covers over 20,000 square meters of area and is also the first Islamic building adapting the four-courtyard Iwan layout of Sassanid palaces to Islamic religious structural design. The double shelled ribbed domes of Jameh Mosque represents and architectural creativity that has inspired builders throughout the area.
Ali Qapu PalaceBuilt at the end of the 16th century as a residence of Shah Abbas I, Ali Qapu Palace is a spectacular palace also serving as a grand gateway to the royal palaces that lay in the lovely parks. The major highlight of this palace is its elevated terrace boasting 18 narrow columns and offering a wonderful perspective over the square. On the upper room of the palace, there is a music room where the stucco ceiling in riddled with the shapes of vases and a number of household utensils are cut to augment the acoustics.
